Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can we fit any saddle for you?
James is fully qualified to fit Arena, Bates, and Wintec saddles, regardless of whether they are the older or newer styles. It’s worth noting that many saddle experts tend to specialize in one or two styles or brands of saddles due to the wide variety available in the market.
How do I know I need to get my saddle checked?
Your horse’s shape can change multiple times throughout the year, affecting how the saddle fits. Some signs that your saddle may require attention include:
A change in your horse’s behavior during or after riding
Marks or lesions on the horse where the saddle comes into contact
Saddle slipping forward or backward during riding
It is advisable to have your saddle checked every 3-6 months, depending on how frequently you ride your horse and the specific riding discipline you participate in. If your saddle hasn’t been checked and your horse’s shape has changed, you may soon encounter some of the issues mentioned earlier. If you are unsure, please contact us, and we can offer guidance on your best course of action.
How much does it cost for a saddle fit?
The saddle fitting service is priced at £72 and can be paid on the day directly to James or can be paid over the phone to either of our stores. We do not charge for travel within a 15-mile radius from the Littlehampton or Midhurst shop. For distances beyond this point, mileage is charged at a rate of 50p per mile each way.
