Ferring Country Centre is a small, local and independent charity for those with learning difficulties. Ferring provides their members with vital training and skills ready for the future ahead of them. Those members volunteer to maintain the Riding Therapy Centre, Garden, Small Animal Farm, Onsite Café and Charity Shop, whilst also getting involved with local community projects.
The centre itself is based right in the heart of the village of Ferring itself, nestled away within the beautiful countryside. Ferring Country Centre was founded in 1986 by a close group of parents who sought potential in the centre and felt the desire to provide their children and others with the perfect environment for them to gain life and work experience away from their normally busy and hectic day to day lives, and so the charity was born.
What we do to help?
Whilst both stores fully support the work of Ferring Country Centre, Littlehampton display a charity box which our customers kindly and regularly make a donation into. At Littlehampton especially we are store of choice for many volunteers, who come to us for the correct apparel for the different working environments. We offer a friendly and helpful approach to those members of Ferring Country Centre with learning difficulties, some of whom are s most valued and regular customers!

About Animal Care in Egypt (ACE)
For over 15 years now ACE have been providing animals in Luxor with free veterinary treatment and giving advice and management skills to the carer’s of these animals in an effort to prevent the amount of unnecessary suffering that so many animals are subject to.
‘Another realization was the need to change the misunderstandings and ignorance surrounding the care of animals. So while building the new facilities a classroom was included where we now teach up to 800 children a month during term time from the local area. They learn that animals feel pain and how to care for their animals. Our local teacher ensures they understand that they should treat animals with the respect they deserve’. Amazingly, about 500 animals come to ACE every week for potentially life-saving treatment and care!
What we do to help?
This is probably one of our most active charities that we support; we are currently running a scheme in partnership with ACE to help raise money to provide the citizens of Egypt working alongside the charity with the correct veterinary equipment to enable them to care for the horses, ponies and donkeys suffering.
For the full story and for more detailed information about the charity and how you can do more to help, please visit: www.ace-egypt.org.uk
The Vet Wrap Scheme:
Across both stores we have launched this scheme in partnership with ACE, whereby any Vetwrap bought and donated by one of our caring customers, we will match. It is only £1.50 to donate and the difference these are making to the animals in need over there is just incredible!
Keep it up everyone!
About Sussex Horse Rescue Trust
The Sussex Horse Rescue Trust (SHRT) is based on a remote farm in Uckfield, West Sussex. It was established in the 1960’s and is currently running a rescue and rehabilitation programme for horses and ponies that have been neglected and mistreated. Although SHRT is a small scale and local charity they currently care for over 250 horses, ponies and ‘donkeys’ that have been rescued by the charity members.
Taken directly from their website, SHRT ‘believe every horse, pony and donkey has the right to be part of a loving family where it will be cared for and loved to the end of its natural life’.
The charity currently offer sponsorship scheme and a loaning agreement to those rescue members who have fully recovered from their previous ordeals and are ready to move onto a new loving, caring and forever home. For more information on this and the charity itself please visit: www.sussexhorserescuetrust.org.uk
What we do to help
Across both our Midhurst and Littlehampton branches we display a charity box and welcome any donations our customers might have to give a little back to those horses, ponies and donkeys that need a little extra love and attention. Our donations are collected by members of the Trust who regularly inform us as to how much we have raised and how this has helped them as a charity.

About Sussex Air Ambulance
The Sussex Air Ambulance charity was first founded on the 6th of November 1989, and their first life saving mission was on the 23rd of December that same year, rescuing a sixteen year old boy in critical condition and flying him to the local hospital where life saving treatment was given. Without the rapid response of the Sussex Air Ambulance team, the boy’s life may not have been saved!
The Sussex Air Ambulance is a charity that is involved heavily with wider organisations and is supported by many; in 1990 the Air Ambulance Appeal was launched and six months later a lottery that raised £200,000 a year, to help keep the life-saving crew flying.
Air Ambulance services are something many of us take for granted, without being educated on the vital work they do for our community. In the first two weeks of the Sussex Air Ambulance launching its service they answered eight life saving calls, now over 20,000 missions have been completed to help save the lives of our community in Kent, Sussex and Surrey!
For more information on the charity itself and the thoroughly respected work they continue to do please visit their website: www.kssairambulance.org.uk
